Georgetown, TX, June 10, 2026 — Southwestern University’s new development project, Southwestern University 560 (SU 560), has reached a major milestone with the announcement of its first tenant. The City of Georgetown will locate its new customer service center within the development, marking an important step forward for the transformative mixed-use district. Construction of the building is expected to begin in early 2027, with completion anticipated in mid 2028.

The agreement reflects the continued partnership between Southwestern University and the City of Georgetown and demonstrates growing momentum behind the long-term vision for SU 560.

“This is an exciting moment for Southwestern University 560 and a meaningful example of what can be accomplished through strong community partnerships,” Southwestern University President Laura Skandera Trombley said. “The City of Georgetown has been a great partner throughout the planning process, and we are thrilled to welcome them as the first announced tenant. Their commitment reflects a shared belief in creating a destination that serves residents, supports economic vitality, and strengthens connections across our community.”

The 75,000-square-foot customer service center will house over 250 employees across a variety of resident-facing City departments and services, including askGTX, Building Permitting and Inspections, Code Compliance, Economic Development, Human Resources, and Information Technology, among others. The space is also designed to include 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

By bringing key municipal services into the heart of the development, the facility will provide convenient access for residents while contributing to the vibrant mix of uses envisioned for SU 560.

“We are truly excited to get started on our new Customer Service Center at Southwestern University,” Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder said. “Housing many of our customer-facing departments, this facility will help launch a new destination location for retail, entertainment, and services in Georgetown. We look forward to working with Southwestern to partner on this signature development in our city.”

The customer service center represents the first announced project within the development and serves as an early example of the collaborative, community-focused vision that defines SU 560.

Construction on the first phase of Southwestern University 560 is expected to begin this September. Encompassing 67 acres, the development will create an active, walkable district with a strong sense of place and a diverse mix of uses. Planned features include 110,000 square feet of office and research space, 45,000 square feet of retail, 150 multifamily homes, a 110,000-square-foot hotel and conference center, a 38,000-square-foot entertainment venue, and 35 acres of parks and open space.

Developed in response to Georgetown’s rapid growth, SU 560 is a 560-acre mixed-use development contiguous to Southwestern University’s historic campus. Guided by 12 core principles rooted in connection, creativity, and purpose, the project is designed to bring together housing, industry, retail, hospitality, arts and culture, civic spaces, and green space in a walkable district that promotes innovation, sustainability, and community well-being.
